“My Closet is such a mess”, “No way I’m letting anyone in my closet”, “trust me you don’t want to see my closet”. Trust me, I've seen it all! #NoJudgementZone
“My Closet is such a mess”, “No way I’m letting anyone in my closet”, “trust me you don’t want to see my closet”.
I’ve heard these statements before and it used to make me sad. It made me sad until I realized why women are so afraid of having someone else in their closet!
They are afraid of judgment! They are afraid of being judged because it’s not organized, because their clothes are 10+ years old or because they have clothes in their closet that don’t fit them, yet they dream one day they will wear them again!
And y’all, I get it! I do! I was right there with ya! I hated my closet! I had an entire closet full of clothes and literally nothing to wear! I was that person who wore the same thing over and over again because I felt no confidence in how to dress. I didn’t understand the concept of staple pieces and adding layers. I didn’t understand how easy it was to break free from those old sentimental pieces I had held onto for years, until I actually had someone help me! I was embarrassed about the older clothes and I was depressed about having no organization.
I started learning the working parts of my wardrobe. I started organizing one area at a time. I started parting with my past and embracing the woman I am today
Then, I decided I had had enough. But y’all I didn’t just transform my closet overnight and snap my fingers and all of a sudden it was organized. No! It took time! However, I had to decide first that something needed to change. I had to decide first that I was worth it. I had to decide first that I was exactly how God created me to be and tell myself that I was created in his image. I had to look myself in the mirror and say “Rachel you are beautiful”. When I did that, that is when it all changed for me.
I started learning the working parts of my wardrobe. I started organizing one area at a time. I started parting with my past and embracing the woman I am today. I started understanding how to shop intentionally and stopped buying the same color and clothes I had always been buying. I started buying only the pieces I knew I needed to buy and then I started being creative with my outfits!
I learned so much about myself in the process and Y’all, I became EXCITED about getting dressed in the morning. I felt peaceful and successful just because it was easy for me to create pulled together looks in less than 30 seconds. I understood how accessories alone could be the workhorse for my wardrobe and was not afraid to use them for that purpose!!
Having someone come into your closet yes is a personal thing and I get it! It’s almost like going to the gynecologist! It’s just uncomfortable. But it is so worth it and freeing in the end.
